American Anime Experiment.. code name: Malice

OK so after some heated debate I think we’ve settled on a nice general storyline that we can fill all kinds of fun blanks into along the road.   Here goes:

* These names are totally negotiable especially if the part winds up being your character!

In the year two thousand and twenty one the south of Florida is as dangerous and decrepit as any civilization the planet they call Earth has ever played host to.

A real human/mutant wasteland was the Sunshine State .. wraspy giggle

You see, Florida was not  included in an organized city state, and therefore no longer a part of the United States of America.

After the political fallout and race riots of 2012-2013, America would eventually break into 4 heavily gated and guarded, government states centered around  DC, L.A. , Charlotte, & Chicago.  The rest of the once charming United States was categorically in a state of Dystopia.   Wikipedia definition of Dystopia:

dystopia is the idea of a society in a repressive and controlled state, often under the guise of being utopian. Examples of dystopias are characterized in books such as Brave New WorldNineteen Eighty-Four, and The Handmaid’s TaleThe Iron Heel was described by Erich Fromm as “the earliest of the modern Dystopian”[1]. Dystopian societies feature different kinds of repressive social control systems, and various forms of active and passive coercion. Ideas and works about dystopian societies often explore the concept of humans abusing technology and humans individually and collectively coping, or not being able to properly cope with technology that has progressed far more rapidly than humanity’s spiritual evolution. Dystopian societies are often imagined as police states, with unlimited power over the citizens. The word derives from Ancient Greek: δυσ-, “bad, hard”,[2] and Ancient Greek: τόπος, “place, landscape”[3]. It can alternatively be called cacotopia,[4][5] or anti-utopia.

So anyway, this is the year my friend, Nyon Jackson Brickell was born to our at that time fearless leader,  the mythical warrior the once protected everything from the New River to the inlet in Fort Lauderdale.  All the way out to what was once I-95.  Jackson Cypress Brickell… Black Jack, was a great man.  Brutal, lethal, and tenacious he was, but Black Jack Brickell was as honest and loyal as the day was long.   Compared to the rest of SubFlorida, our territory at the time was a little slice of heaven on earth. giggle

Two years later on April 11th, 2023 marks the birth of someone who I once knew extremely well and to most everyone we were considered very close friends.

Ko Lee Hammock is someone whom I feared, I followed, and I respected but I’m still not sure if at any point, I ever really considered Ko Lee, a friend..

Chapter 1 – Jack’s Death

So fast forward to 2047

Jackson Brickell has more twisted metal in his once 170 lb. frame than a 79 Monte Carlo in a junkyard derby.  He was probably 400 pounds when his natural heart wasn’t strong enough to trigger his mechanics anymore.    While it’s true that sub states had only the worst of the worst medical professional, mostly witch doctors at best.. we in the Brick at least had by Sub Florida standards, the best of the worst.  A blend of cyber, genetic, and mechanical rigging kept our leaders around and fighting long past their time but on July 15th, 2042, our general, our leader, our security blanket, reached the end of his line.

This chapter begins as our funeral rituals end.  There had always been much to do around Brickell, or the Brick about who would make the big decisions if Jack died.  See, Nyon and Ko Lee without getting into the complexities of their relationship here, each had extremely loyal followers and they almost never even had to stress Jack.

When things needed to get done Nyon and Ko Lee sorted out who’s people made sense for the job and decisions went down hill until the right committee was assembled and the problem got solved.  It was a good system, most of Sub Florida new better, things were relatively good.

When the falling out between Nyon and Ko Lee began and the war followed, things went from what I described as “relatively good” ..giggle..  to utterly dreadful by any human, mutant, or cyborg standards.   The caca hit el fano, the gloves came off , and we all had to pick a side.

Nyon: Don’t worry Ko, you know that no matter what happens you know I will allways take care of you and Isa. (Isabella is their daughter)

Ko Lee: Lately Nyon, it’s been much more like me taking care of you.  You know I have always admired your finer qualities.  You have your father’s people skills and have been extremely collected through some tough times but I really don’t think you realize the severity of things around here.

If some of the treaties that have been honored since before WE began negotiating for OUR father expire and our enemies sense weakness..(trembling intense anime eyes :-) .. they are all around us Nyon, and they are forming ties.

So that’s where we are right now.  Ko Lee is going to be played by Jenni Black and in fight mode her wardrobe is going to be along these lines.

Inspiration for the Character Ko Lee in Mailice the Anime

The rest of her crew needs to be something along these lines.  leather, rubber, metal, strappy but nothing exact and don’t worry about the weapons.  If you happen to have access to fun stuff let us know but otherwise we’ll sort out the weaponry.

Nyon’s crew is a whole different sort.  Where Ko-Lee and her close bosses were very serious and cold, Nyon was always a bit of a playboy.  While every bit as deadly, his casual demeanor and fun loving persona trickled down his entire organization.    Nyon’s inner cirlce enjoyed a rap video lifestyle and had lots of laughs but when it was time to go work, we made the American Mafia look like the Mickey Mouse Club :-)

We were boisterous, flamboyant, and deadly.  We slaughtered in tuxedos,  flip flops, and everything in between.  We all had styles pieced together from whatever was left of America at that point.  Classic Americana culture fragments in the sub states were nearly extinct outside of Brickell and we were proud of that.  The American dream, while faint, was still alive there and we planned to keep it that way.
